We were thrilled when Dan and Marco, the visionaries behind the project, approached us to help them elevate their SaaS platform to compete with industry leaders like Bloomberg and surpass established research sites such as OurWorldInData.org. Our first priority was to create a visually striking and intuitive user experience for the site’s news section. With that accomplished, We began designing low-fidelity wireframes for the reporting calendar section currently in development. We are looking forward to continuing working with Chart Economy bringing their vision to life and create a product that stands out in the financial reporting market.

Chart Economy is a powerful SaaS platform for economic research and charting designed for researchers, educators, and professionals who must closely monitor financial trends. The service includes online indicator charting, reporting, economic news, and a reporting calendar to keep customers up-to-date on the latest market developments.
The project only had a single established base color, a darker blue shade used in the existing logo. Based on this, we explored a primary color approach by using shades drawn from this blue and bright contrasting colors like oranges and reds to create a visual dynamic. We conducted thorough research on various strategies in this direction, looking at competitive products in the charting vertical. To expand our ideas, we enlisted the services of Mid-Journey to explore additional possibilities.
We designed an easily modifiable sketched interaction skeleton in Adobe XD for the product, from site navigation to interactive customer forms. This prototyping allowed all stakeholders to comment on functionality that was easy for us to adjust. We could then plan and define asset classes and naming across the product from the final flows, allowing for easy model expansion in future rounds.
The project included a lot of data points and informational elements such as charts and indexes. Each layout was, in turn, mocked up in multiple formats in XD, from extensive detailed views down to small blocked stacked condensed forms. Keeping the consistency of information was a significant challenge to retaining the crucial plots across this scaling. To manage this, we created several layout examples in XD before we attempted to design these in Figma.
We selected Figma as our production design tool as Figma supported multiple exporting options for the developers. In addition, icon and button style libraries were easily defined and deployed across the design. Mockup flows were also easy to produce with the production artwork.
As we developed the layouts, we added font and style sets and subsets so a single asset could be used throughout the design while keeping all its visual instances defined in one place. This approach allowed the developers to pull and implement our work efficiently.
As we navigated through each page, we implemented a straightforward and intuitive pill button-based navigation system that was familiar to the customer and could be quickly adopted and learned. Our goal was to ensure that the navigation scheme for each tool set on every page and site function would be familiar to the customer.
